Evan Clarke Good News Story

At 29 years old, Evan has already demonstrated remarkable resilience and ambition in shaping his future. When he first joined my caseload last year, Evan was navigating the challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), particularly around social skills and independence. While naturally outgoing once he feels comfortable, it took time for us to build rapport and establish trust.

As this was my first experience supporting a client on the spectrum, I invested in research and leaned on the guidance of my knowledgeable manager. Together, we worked closely with Evan to identify his aspirations and map out a pathway toward success. Evan has always aimed high—his dream of owning a luxury European car symbolized his drive for independence and self-worth.

Evan has been candid about his experiences with employers who underestimated his abilities. While he was open to volunteer work, he firmly believed his value extended far beyond unpaid roles. His journey has been diverse: from working on a potato farm to completing a tax course with hopes of entering the accounting field. His sharpness with numbers and eagerness to learn stood out immediately.

Beyond his professional ambitions, Evan’s creativity shines. He has explored stand-up comedy, bringing joy and laughter to audiences, and even appeared as a contestant on Channel 7’s The 1% Club. Most recently, he auditioned for Millionaire Hot Seat, further proving his confidence and willingness to embrace new challenges.

Today, Evan’s journey has reached an exciting milestone. With the support of ACDCForyou and the guidance of employment services, he has secured a paid online internship while simultaneously completing a Certificate III in Information Technology. This opportunity allows him to meet his benchmark hours, gain valuable industry skills, and build a foundation for long-term employment.

Employment services have been instrumental in helping Evan achieve this progress. By tailoring opportunities to his strengths, connecting him with training, and advocating for his potential, they have provided him with the tools to grow both professionally and personally. The consultant’s role has been equally vital—investing time to build rapport, researching ASD-specific strategies, and offering consistent encouragement. This support has not only opened doors to meaningful employment but also strengthened Evan’s confidence in his own abilities.

Evan’s story is a testament to the power of self-belief, supportive guidance, and the right employment services. From farms to finance, comedy to technology, he continues to break barriers and redefine success. His journey shows how ambition, combined with the right support, can transform dreams into achievements.
